The Project PARTICIPAR + aims to exchange information on poverty and social exclusion situation in each country (Portugal, Belgium, Spain and Romania), and to identify good practices on how to involve people experiencing poverty in the implementation of social policies. To achieve this aim the project will carry out a set of events – peer reviews – in which people living in poverty and social exclusion will have the opportunity to have a voice and to draw public’s attention to their situation.

Main aims:

We intend to reinforce the reflexion and the debate on the future of Europe, having in mind a more inclusive Europe, where all citizens can have a voice and can contribute to a better future, especially those that are facing a difficult reality. This project can contribute to build a Europe for all citizens, and the recommendations that will come out from the different meetings will contribute to prepare the European Year Against Poverty in 2010.

We consider that successful social integration is a wish but not a reality for many people in Europe. The solution of social problems is hence a central test of the legitimacy of the entire European unification process. Social integration cannot be attained without consulting those concerned, who in turn expect to be respected, and the conditions for comprehensive social integration to be improved in an atmosphere of equality. In fact, if we want a Europe for citizens we need to promote more Participation. This is the main message of our Project: PARTICIPAR +.
